The degree of resistance to ergot (Claviceps purpurea /Fr./Tul.) was investigated in four Czech (Bohemia, Krasa, Moravanka, Slezanka) and four American (Coventry, Chateau, Midnight, Plush) Kentucky bluegrass varieties.  The study was performed under field conditions (natural and semi-artificial infection) at Pullman (USA) and Zubrí (Czech Republic), and in the glasshouse (Zubrí) with Czech and American ergot populations (artificial infection) in two years (1997 and 1998).  An exceptional stability of resistance under different conditions was observed in the variety Slezanka, whereas stable susceptibility was not found.
